Dr. Lorenzo Vanini

Dr. Lorenzo Vanini graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pavia in 198 and has spent the last thirty years working as a specialist in aesthetic dentistry, with a paricular interest in the conservative restoration of the anterior teeth and in research related to the composite dental materials. He conceived a new method for the determination of colour in dentistry and a particular technique of anatomical stratification of the composite materials, widely appreciated in the international field today and adopted as a teaching method by numerous Universities in Europe and the United States. At the same time, he has worked, in collaboration with German firms, in the research of innovative dental materials. He was a teacher and instructor in the department of Conservative Dentistry at the School of Dentistry of the San Paolo Institute, University of Milan, during the years 1986-1987. He is an active member of the Italian Society of Conservative Dentistry, Italian Accademy of Conservative Dentistry and the American Society for Dental Aesthetics. He holds advanced proficiency courses, privately, with the Central Courses in his office and with Universities on an international level. He is Visiting Professor of Restorative Dentistry at the University of Chieti, Visiting Professor in Aesthetics at the University De La Mediterranee of Marseille and at UIC of Barcellona . He’s planned and developted with the chemist dr Thom Niem the new Enamel Plus HRi that has the same reflection index of the natural enamel. He is the author of numerous publications and of the book Conservative Restoration of Anterior Teeth with Francesco Mangani and Olga Klimovskaia. He practices privately in Chiasso (Switzerland).

Aesthetic dentistry in the anterior teeth
21/05/16 09:30 – 11:00

Function and aesthetics in dentistry: two inseparable goals in the modern society.
The aim of this conference is to give the chance to learn how to blend these two ideals in every clinical situation, from the easiest to the most difficult one. How to gain a predictable and repeatable result is the key word of the entire course.

The conference is divided in two sessions.

In the first part, “How to achieve aesthetic results with conservative treatments”, we will focus on the mini-invasive procedures and most conservative techniques for direct and indirect composite restorations and bonded ceramic manufactures. We will speak about class V noncarious cervical lesions and gingival recessions and about complex fractures (class IV) where the biologic dimension is violate. We will focus on the most conservative techniques to treat this combined lesions (tooth-gingiva) and how is possible to do a “one step treatment” to create a new biologic dimenson and to restore immediately the crown’ tooth.
Main targets will be:
1. to know the right way of color determination,
2. to learn a standardized technique of composite stratification
3. to choose the best material between composite and ceramic according to the clinical situation
4. to manage soft and hard dental tissues in combined cases (class V and complex class IV).

A soft and hard tissue challenge from the conservative to the prosthetic treatments
21/05/16 11:30 – 13:00

“How to achieve aesthetic results with prosthetic treatments on both natural teeth and implants”, we will deeply analyze the best materials and methods for the creation and utilization of composite and metal-free crowns and the finest techniques to manage gingival tissues to achieve a good predictable gingival architecture an how to maintain the aesthetic result over time.
Main targets will be:
1. to learn the right method of teeth preparation
2. how to achieve a good gingival contouring in a prosthetic treatment with different type of gingival tissues
3. to choose the right composite or ceramic system to gain the best marginal seal and the best aesthetic results.
